A Brigadeiro Love-Story
Brigadeiro (Portuguese for Brigadier) is a simple Brazilian chocolate bonbon, created in the 1940s and named after Brigadier Eduardo Gomes, whose shape is reminiscent of that of some varieties of chocolate truffles. It is a very popular candy in Brazil and it is usually served at birthday parties, but can also be found at any kind of party. Mixing sweetened condensed milk, butter, cocoa powder and love.
Brigadeiro is the mandatory treat for any party in Brazil, especially if it’s a kids birthday party. In the last couple years, the chocolate has gained a new title as a “gourmet style”, which means using high quality products and having a fine touch.
The Brigadeiro in my life means a lot to me because it brings back memories about my childhood, including birthday parties. I remember the day before the party it was time to get the whole family together to roll up the chocolates and put the sprinkles on.
I am very happy to share a little bit of my tradition with you and I hope you enjoy!
